In September 1992, Armstrong Priestley required a temporary secretary/receptionist for three weeks and an employment agency sent along Mrs Karen Taylor and 25 years later Karen is still with Armstrong Priestley and has the role of Director/General Manager. Once Karen had been permanently employed by Armstrong Priestley she graduated in to the Service Department where she assisted the Service Manager and gained knowledge and understanding, not only of elementary design, but also of the service requirements associated with installations and their water supplies. In due course Karen took over as Manager of the service department for 5 years taking charge of the service engineers and dealing on a day to day basis with the company’s service clients.
Karen is also involved with the industry’s Trade Association, the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA) as Minute Secretary at their Council meetings which are held at venues across the country. Karen’s role in BAFSA has perhaps unwittingly gathered pace and she helps with the administration required in keeping BAFSA members up to date and informed and she is now seen as a key contact within the Association. In 2006 Karen was appointed as General Manager and with her basic knowledge of the sprinkler industry and her experience with the Trade Association and more recently joined the company’s Board of Directors.
