Fire Sprinkler Design in Maidstone

Maidstone is Armstrong Priestley’s southern office. Each of our offices has its very own design department to service the area. Armstrong Priestley designers are LPC and Firas accredited to design automated fire sprinklers to the following standards:

  • BS EN 12845:2015+A1:2019, CEA 4001 and CEN standards,
  • FM Global and NFPA
  • UFC military standards
  • BS9251 and BS EN 16925 for residential application
  • BS8489 for Water Mist systems
  • BS9990 for fixed non-automatic systems
  • ACE guidance for energy from waste application

We work with our clients to understand the requirements of their building or business, so that we can develop a system that best suits their needs.

Additionally, fire sprinklers can have huge potential for building design. They reduce the need for fire doors, allowing for more open-plan spaces.

Our almost half century of experience means that we have a wealth of past projects that can inform new designs. This experience covers a vast scope of applications suitable for different projects:

  • Automatic Sprinkler systems
  • Deluge systems
  • Foam Enhanced systems
  • Hi-Expansion Foam systems
  • Hydrant and Wet Riser systems
  • Dry Riser systems
  • Low-Pressure Water Mist

Maidstone Fire Sprinkler Design Sectors:

Industrial and Logistics

Our Maidstone designers have experience developing sprinkler systems for a vast variety of warehousing and storage facilities in this sector. Often a pump and water-tank must be factored into the design. We ensure to account for the type of inventory stored and the requirements of the facility.

Commercial and Manufacturing

This is another sector that often needs a tank and pump, although in some instances, particularly when dealing with OH1 risk levels, a town’s main solution has also been undertaken. Building types in this sector that we have designed for in the past include: office blocks, food factories, hotels, fire stations and both food and non-food related production facilities.

Retail

Armstrong Priestley designs fire sprinkler systems for shopping centres or single shop units, often in collaboration with specialist shop fitters. We understand that interior design is important in this sector and strive to make our sprinkler systems as inconspicuous as possible. Previous projects in the Maidstone area include Lakeside, Essex; and Blue Water, Kent.

Residential

In this sector, we have designed fire sprinkler systems for a great range of projects, such as student accommodation, sheltered housing, care homes, apartment buildings and private homes. Every project is sensitive and requires a unique system. Armstrong Priestley’s Manchester residential department works with our design team to come up with the most suitable system type, made to BS9251 and EN16925 or Water Mist BS8458/BS8489 standards, among others.

Education

In this sector, we work on contracts let through the M&E market, which has introduced high levels of coordination and has given our designers further access to BIM 3D modelling technology. We have supplied fire protection to over 200 projects, ranging from £50k small primary schools to £500k academies.

About Maidstone

The county town of Kent, Maidstone is just 32 miles from London, in the ‘Garden of England’. The town is intersected by the River Medway, which was historically used for the transportation of goods to and from the Thames Estuary, allowing Maidstone to grow into a centre of commerce. Maidstone was once known for its breweries and paper making industry. Kent’s largest brewery, Fremlin’s brewery, has now been converted into Fremlin Walk shopping centre. All Saints Church, Leeds Castle and the Archbishop’s Palace are all Grade I listed buildings worth a visit in the area.
