Health and Safety is an integral part of our philosophy and it is integrated into all departments insuring that we can deliver a safe environment for our employees, customers and contractors. All our employees are introduced to the company’s health & safety policy and procedures on joining the company and their training requirements are reviewed regularly. To insure that we continue to improve and operate ‘best practise’ our Health & Safety Committee which comprises staff from all departments including our fabrication workshop and site operatives regularly review our policies and procedures. This work is overseen by our own NEBOSH qualified Health & Safety Manager.
All Armstrong Priestley personnel are regularly assessed and have undergone training appropriate to their work roles. This includes Site Manager (SMSTS), Site Supervisor (SSSTS), manual handling, asbestos awareness, first aid, IPAF (scissors and booms), PASMA (tower scaffolds and podiums) and confined space. All Armstrong Priestley contracting personnel, installers and engineers hold trade specific CSCS cards.
At Armstrong Priestley we are keen supporters of a newly formed IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation (QCF). This is a qualification aimed at individuals employed in the fire sprinkler industry. It is intended for people employed in installing fire sprinklers to develop their knowledge and competencies necessary to meet the industry standards for their role. This course was developed in 2015 so is still in its infancy but it is hoped that in the years to come it will be expected that all sprinkler installation engineers will have achieved some kind of qualification, be it this one or one further developed in years to come.
Third party endorsement
As part of our commitment to health and safety we have had our policies and procedures endorsed by a number of third parties so that our clients can be assured and have confidence in our ability.
We are currently members of the following SSIP schemes, Construction Line, Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS), Safecontractor and Eurosafe UK. The Company is also able to offer CDM competence when required.
