Armstrong Priestley has been awarded a contract to install the fire sprinkler installation to the new distribution warehouse in Doncaster.  The warehouse  will utilise a number of different racking storage systems including, very narrow aisle racking, cantilever and mini load automated racking systems which handle the tote box storage.  The sprinkler installation is also providing protection to the offices, loading canopy and mezzanine floor level.

This project was to install High Hazard sprinkler protection in accordance with BS EN 12845 to a new parts warehouse for Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Limited.  The ‘parts warehouse’ utilised both free standing and palletized racking and tote box storage.

The Comet distribution centre required careful consideration when it came to the design of the fire sprinkler installation, as the client required considerable freedom to change the rack storage system. This type of flexibility is difficult to accommodate with a traditional in-rack and roof sprinkler system which is traditionally used for this type of risk.

Armstrong Priestley, together with the clients consultants and fire underwriters, proposed to utilise an Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinkler system which only requires sprinklers to be installed at roof level and which allows goods to be stored up to 12.2m high.
